Belgian e-commerce lost a day and a half of sales during the end of year celebrations. According to a survey by InternetVista monitoring, the principal players in Belgian e-commerce lost more than 32 hours of sales during the celebrations. The cause was the poor operation of their server. The result: websites inaccessible by users and turnover impossible to make up.

internetVista supports two additional protocols: IMAP and UDP. Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) monitoring checks that your message servers supporting this protocol are functioning fully. Support for User Datagram Protocol (UDP) has been added following requests for the monitoring of services responding solely to UDP requests (certain streamings, games ...).

In addition to existing protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, TCP, etc.), internetVista now supports an additional protocol: PING. With this protocol you can monitor new types of equipment such as routers, firewalls, etc. Technically, the Ping command sends an ICMP request to a target address in order to check IP connectivity. Among other things, packet loss can be verified from the results of these requests.

The magazine Inside publishes a study conducted by internetVista in its release of November. This investigation aims at determining the availability rate of the Belgian press websites. To do so, the 9 major websites of the French-speaking and Dutch-speaking Belgian press were kept under monitoring for one month 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The study is available in PDF format, both in Dutch and French.
